Coordinated Development across a range of specialisations
The United Nations in Papua New Guinea comprises of 13 specialist agencies working in tandem to help the country achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Coordination of the different agencies is the responsibility of the Resident
Coordinator's Office.
The office promotes UN reforms; oversees the implementation of the UN
Country Programme 2008-2012 (as well as of the UNDAF
2003-2007); monitors the progress towards achieving the MDGs in Papua New Guinea; advocates for important development issues and works with donors.
The Resident Coordinator reports annually to the
Secretary General on the developmental situation and progress in PNG.
