Our Partners

Partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea

UNDP works closely with GoPNG as the major partner on monitoring and evaluation responsibilities with international and regional structures to promote best practice and accountability through national ownership as presented in national development strategic frameworks, ; as well as the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Inclusive country-owned responses: Nationally owned sustainable responses, financing diversified, systems strengthened.
Key strategic departments include: Department for Planning and Monitoring, Department of Health, National AIDS Council Secretariat, Department for Community Development, Department for Justice and Attorney General, Department of Provincial and Local Level Government, Department for Environment and Conservation, Office of Climate Change and Development, and PNG Police.

Partnership with Civil Society and Private Sector

UNDP prioritises strategic relationships and partnership, and consults and collaborates with wide range of Civil Society Organizations throughout Papua New Guinea, such as ccommunity groups, nongovernmental, development networks and groups, faith-based organizations, church institutions, women’s groups, youth Networks/groups, the media and the private/business sector. In all the thematic areas of Technical Assistance to the development of Papua New Guinea, Civil Society Organisations and Private Sector are central to the work of the UNDP.

Partnership with Donors and Bilateral Organisations

Engagement and partnership with donors/bilateral organizations remains at a priority to UNDP PNG’s core business. UNDP strategically engage with major funding agencies and bilateral organisations such as, such as AusAID, ADB, EU, NZAID, resulting into increased knowledge sharing and financial resource flow. UNDP PNG will maintain and strengthen its partnership with these agencies.

UN Country Programme:

In Papua New Guinea, Delivering as one has taken shape in Joint UN Country Strategy. The country strategy makes it easier for government and donors see what the UN is actually doing in PNG, both from programmes and from operational angles. UNDP is part of the one delivery strategic framework, as a lead agency or a member of several Task Teams including; HIV/AIDS, Health , Human Rights, Communication, Gender, Democratic, Governance, MDG and Populations, Environment and Bougainville
