Procurement

Recent successful vendors

In the interests of transparency UNDP PNG publishes the procurement notices, names and details of all vendors who have received contracts from the organisation for more than US$100,000. Please see the bottom of this page for the names of successful vendors over the last 12 months.

Procurement Procedures

UNDP in Papua New Guinea procures goods and services through competitive solicitations. The following methods are used for the procurement of goods and services:

Request for Quotation
The most flexible and least formal method that is applied for procuring goods, services and/or works. Vendors will be approached by the organisation or advertised to and asked to provide a written quotation. Selection criteria will be stipulated by UNDP, but could include a mixture of best price and best service. This type of contract applies to amounts of between $2,500 and $100,000

Invitation to Bid
An invitation to bid is usually used as a means of procurement when general - non technical goods or services are required. The successful bidder usually has to meet specifications set by UNDP and is often judged on price - all other things being equal. This is normally the case when UNDP buys goods. An invitation to bid is used for contracts exceeding $100,000

Request for Proposal
A request for proposal is used to determine if a vendor has the best approach to solving a problem. It is usually used for more complex procurement - for example - hiring a consulting firm to design a project. This applies to contracts exceeding $100,000.
